In 1915, about 200 of the first Finnish volunteers went to Germany for military training.
The training was organized under the cover of the name Pfadfinder-Kursus (“scout course”), and the participants were called pfadfinders.
A pfadfinder ring was made to commemorate the course, but purchasing it was voluntary.
According to Jani Tiainen’s Suomen Kunniamerkit reference book, very few rings were purchased, so they are now rare memorabilia from the Jaeger era of the Finnish liberation war of 1918.
